Its origin

Coming from a family from the north, Anne-Marie and Nathalie Vancoillie, mother and daughter, adopted the Var and more specifically Saint Antonin du Var since the 80s. Originally, there was the Bastide, then the Clos, the land has always been cultivated, but it was above all a vacation spot. In 1998, they decided to resume cultivating vines and producing wine, olive oil and truffles.

Since 2014, Nathalie Vancoillie has run the estate alone.

Not only is Nathalie, a winemaker, in charge of wine production, but she also runs the guest rooms within the country house from April to October. It's a wonderful opportunity for wine lovers to stay in the winemaker's home and gain a better understanding of how a wine estate operates.

Nathalie loves to share her passion for the area with her guests.

In season, it offers authentic cuisine, mainly Provençal, at the table d'hôtes.

With tours of the estate and wine-tasting workshops, it's a complete package. wine tourism that it has set up to meet an increasingly strong demand.

The land and the vines

Clos d'Alari, located in Saint Antonin du Var, is a 30-hectare estate, including 6 hectares of vines, which makes it a small wine estate compared to the local average which is around 30 to 40 hectares.

We have implemented mixed farming on the estate with olive trees and truffle trees. We plan to further diversify our production: pistachio, saffron, and hemp.

Clos d'Alari does not trade. We only sell wine from our own vineyards.

We have 20 plots and 8 different grape varieties, including only 1 white: Rolle and 7 reds: Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot.

The majority of these grape varieties are representative of the region and the appellation.

The majority of the plots benefit from the Côtes de Provence appellation.

While the average production of rosés in Côtes de Provence is above 90%, ours is below 50% in 2024. We offer all 3 colors and wish to diversify our offer by implementing less classic winemaking processes such as the maceration of white grapes, the infusion of red grapes in a green grape must, the production of natural sparkling wines.

Our soils are clay-limestone. They are alive: no herbicides, no pesticides, no chemical fertilizers. We are certified organic.

The topography of the site, all around the two buildings of the estate, with the vines facing south and arranged in a cirque, is very favorable to the production of quality grapes for making wines.

We are at an altitude of 300m. The climate is Mediterranean: hot and dry in summer. But cold in winter, and especially with very strong day/night temperature variations, which preserves the freshness of the grapes. Moreover, the harvest begins at night to preserve this freshness, a very important factor in the quality of the wines, particularly the rosés.
